Music and Layout

Blog Prompt: The Grand Ole Opry opens on October 18,1925. Have you ever been to a music concert? Describe the experience.

I LOVE music and have been to a few concerts in my life time. My first concert was Liberace in St. Louis in the 80's. Oh my gosh could that man sing and of course, that 2 million dollars worth of costumes that he wore during the performance. He also did one section where there were dancing waters while he played the piano. I loved that concert.

My next concert was Tina Turner when she made her comeback. I'm tellin ya, I have never seen legs like that in my life on a woman of her age. She wore really high heels through the whole 2 hour concert, really tiny outfits and danced her heart out. I was truly impressed with that woman and how she made it on her own after the hell that Ike put her through.

I have also seen Richard Marx two times. I love his soft rock music and I hate that he doesn't cut music anymore. He writes for other artist's now. I have also seen Foghat and Night Ranger for the rocker side of me in the 80's.

When I started working at the Rodeo, they had great country singers all 4 nights. I have seen a lot of country singers during that time and have enjoyed every one of them. My favorite is Tracy Byrd and I saw him on my 40th birthday and again at the rodeo. He has got this really sexy deep voice that just.....uuuuuummmm..........wow! And oh my!! He is prettier than a glob of butter melting on a stack of pan cakes!

I guess why I love country music so much is because it reminds me of where I am from and what kind of laid back, redneck I am.

Writing Hundreds of Words Per Minute With Dragon

When I was an office manager, my boss loved to dictate letters. I convinced him to try Dragon and he loved it. Didn't take long for the program to get use to his voice and before too long, he was dictating his own letters and printing them out. Even though he was an older gentleman and set in his ways, he loved the ease of the program.

This is such a great product and great for any office. Want a chance to review the product yourself? Learn to Type at $150 Words Per Minute for $99!

Press Release:

Here is another great video review by Lisa, who coincidently writes the blog Lisa Reviews. She writes about how she can write at 150 words per minute with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

I think one of the key takeaways from her video, the key insight that is, is that she is able to write a lot more in those spare moments of time that she has while she's doing other things. Sometimes it's great to multitask, but it's even more important to be able to accomplish useful goals in those spare two or three or four minute pockets of time that we all experience throughout the day.

With Dragon NaturallySpeaking a four minute pocket of time can translate into 600 words! That could be three or four e-mails or one or two long blog articles if you're a blogger like Lisa.
Slick

For just $99 you can get started with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and have it trained in running in about seven minutes. The software with version 10 is simply amazing.

I have been writing about Dragon NaturallySpeaking for almost 2 years now. I have been able to type at rates of up to 167 words per minute with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. That speed was clocked while I was taking a typing test, but even in practical situations when I factor in not only the time it takes to type, but the time that it also takes to edit the words I typed, the end result is that I can still achieve about 100 words a minute, INCLUDING editing time! J

That is extremely fast, and the inclusion of editing time, speaks to the advances that you can see in version 10 as compared to older versions such as version 8 or version 9. It's a lot easier to edit on the fly with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.

So if you're looking for a practical tool for your home office, for your writing or blog work, or even just to keep up with e-mail in your spare time, Dragon NaturallySpeaking can give you the power to write at 150 words a minute for a price that starts at $99. Heck, I think I paid that much almost for my last keyboard so that I wouldn't pound my fingers to death. :-)

Sincerely,
Brett Bumeter

PS this article includes about 376 words that I wrote with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10. It took me about 3 1/2 minutes to write and edit this article, which is just a little bit better than 100 words per minute and that includes editing time.

I'm Weird and Layout

Blog Prompt: Sometimes it is our little nicks, dents, and imperfections – that make us able to relate to other people. How have you seen evidence of this in your own life?

This is such a great prompt for me. Let me get my list out.

1. Nerd
2. Geek
3. Wears Thick Glasses
4. Little Pudgy
5. Redneck

ugh! After seeing the list, I am weird!! Can you imagine being this way in High School? I was a geeky, never got in trouble, chubby, glass wearing, Redneck! I still have close friends that said I was such a nerd in High School. But, being a nerd and geek is pretty cool now. That only took 30 years!

Yea, I was picked on, but I think living through all that just made me understand how people work. I consider myself a very good judge of character and when I realize pretty quick that a new person in my life is not someone I want to hang with, I'm outta there.

I've certainly learned how to laugh at myself and have fun. I think that is the Redneck coming out of me. Life is too short to take things so seriously that it disrupts my life.

I used 2 great kits from Clever Crow Designs to make this layout of my very messy dog, Ernest T. Bass. Altered Autumn and Autumn Merry Night kit's are just full of beautiful fall colors for this time of the season. She is also having a 31 days of freebies on her blog. These are so great and check them out here.

Great Glasses for Great Prices

As most of you already know, I have been wearing eyeglasses since I was 1 1/2 years old. A very long time and a lot of money for office visits, glasses and contacts. Every few years I need a new pair of glasses, which cost me about $500.00!!

I am always looking for great deals anywhere and I think I have found a great place for frames at zennioptical.com. What I think would be great for me, is to get a spare pair of glasses. I would not know what to do without my glasses. Couldn't see a thing or function at all and since my prescription isn't a quick fix, I will always be prepared.

ZenniOptical.com Sells Stylish Prescription Glasses Online. You will find huge selection of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic)lens, tinted suglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens for as low as $8.00. The Secret to Zenni’s Low Prices is that they sell only their own manufactured frames direct to the customer, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget.

Clark Howard, a great radio show about saving money, recommends Zenni Optical and I trust Clark a lot. See his notes here.

Favorite Body Part and Layout

Blog prompt: October 15th was Love Your Body Day. What do you like about your body?

I know this is such a loaded question, but I know all of us out there has something about our bodies that we love.

I did a quick check list of my body parts and there seemed to be only one thing left and that would be my hair. I had blond hair while I was young and as I aged, it turned darker. Something I got from my dad. Even at his age, he had a lot of hair.

I have very thick, wavy, dark brown hair that is pretty much easy to take care of when its short. It grows fast and I have to have a trim every 8 weeks. My hair gives my stylist fits because it is so thick. The color I use on my hair, is my natural color. Even though I hate that I have to color it because I'm just quite not ready to let it go grey yet. I have seen beautiful grey hair on some older women that I would love to have. But, right now, my grey is very spotty. Kind of weird looking and it does make me look and feel older. So, as long as color comes in a box, it will be in my bathroom cabinet.

I do complain because I shed worse than any dog. Every time I blow dry my hair, I have to go around and pick up all the hair on the floor and you wouldn't believe what is laying in the shower after I wash it.

I had always wanted a little girl to play with her hair, put up in pigtails and wear little bows. But, since I had a little boy, I never got that joy. I do play around with the grand girls hair, when they let me.
